Change is and for ever shall be the only option. Facebook tells me 2 things, you can be wrong and people will still love you, you can be right and people will hardly ever notice!

Julie: Exactly right about pacing yourself. I think you hit the nail on the head with your comment about not chasing the big bucks and pacing the dream as a marathon and not a sprint. I think as a Millennial (and I know you are one) you portray the two most important characteristics about the generation employers and people should know about Gen Y:

1) We know we have time on our side
2) We want more than a paycheck from our career

Thanks for commenting!Asaadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15303279371833405085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919191792600970149.post-35403854608113548352010-07-15T08:11:29.559-04:002010-07-15T08:11:29.559-04:00I've hardly heard my old classmates talk about...I've hardly heard my old classmates talk about their American Dream. Maybe they knew it's so far out of reach right now with all the above you stated with the market. They just want to at least go out and be seen right now.

Since we're all in a different situation than our Baby Boomer parents going out in the job market, I feel that the American Dream is changing for everyone. I personally feel that the biggest dream I look forward to, is just being completely happy and satisfied with a career. No chasing after big bucks.

Living at home right now with parents is a really great way to pace yourself in breaking out into the real world, without all of the stress and noise of worrying if you're doing everything correctly.

Right now, I'm not in any rush to achieve the American Dream, because I know it takes a lot to get there. Especially with today's conditions. As long as you have a goal in mind for yourself in your career in the run long, work hard and the dream will hopefully catch up later.Juliehttp://whitingconsulting.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2919191792600970149.post-39022905179516900292010-07-14T23:13:54.533-04:002010-07-14T23:13:54.533-04:00Millenials!! Take back the American Dream!! We are...Millenials!! Take back the American Dream!! We are at a poignant moment in history: nationally, globally and generationally. For all the reasons above and many more there is a constant debate.

But two things are certain:
1. For now, change is the only constant
2. We're optimistic

How do I know? Because Facebook says so. It's always changing and only allows you to like someone or something.

Cheers!

Di@Ravin_Davehttp://ravindave.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
